Feminism and the Definition

When we talk about women we will certainly talk about feminism as this two words can not be separated. However, what is actually feminism ? Here, we will provide you a paragraph containing some definitions of feminism from various sources.

Talking about feminism, we will find many different definitions of it from many different books stated by different people. First, as we look up our Oxford Dictionaries, we can see that the definition of feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. Then, Wikipedia define the meaning of feminism as a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women. Moreover, Barbara Smith in her book This Bridge Called My Back (1981) mentioned that Feminism is the political theory and practice to free all women: women of color, working-class women, poor women, physically challenged women, lesbians, old women as well as white economically privileged heterosexual women.  Anything less than this is not feminism, but merely female self-aggrandizement. Finally, from our own perspective we can say that feminism is the movements of women in order to create a better life by educating and empowering another woman supported by the women's right.
